一部好萊塢1939年發行的影片"Gone With The Wind"，以美國南北戰爭( 1861-1865)為背景，緬懷南方美好往昔 ( The good Old South ) 。
片中，一隨身侍候赫家大小姊Scarlett，到Atlanta City, Georgia訪親的女僕Prissy，悠悠自在，走在街上，唱著"My old Kentucky home !" 。

突然，一身巨響， Little Prissy嚇得掩耳撲身在地，回神過來，起身唱著By 'n' by hard times comes a-knocking at the door !砲聲隆隆，北方聯邦軍攻入Atlanta City，已是幾天內的事 !
Little Prissy和Kentucky 有什麼關聯，她老家在Kentucky ?
哦 !!!!!
原來這首歌與解放奴隸有關 !!!!!
Stephen Foster在1852年作這首歌，而 "Uncle Sam's Cabin"啓發他的靈感。
"Uncle Sam's Cabin"---黑奴籲天錄以Kentucky奴隸的追求解放為主題，廢奴者( Abolitionists )引為經典，Old Kentucky home 成為奴隸的精神堡壘。
尤其，林肯總統出身Kentucky邊地，十三歲已是靠自己勞力的墾荒者，奴隸的勞動量，親身體驗，是位堅強的廢奴主義( Abolitionism )領導者。
美國南北戰爭的爆發，名義上，為了社會契約( The Social Contract)的神聖性，聯邦制不可破壞，聯邦不可分裂。但是，實質上，為了廢除奴隸制度，乃基於人道的道德訴求。因此之故，英法西等歐洲的美洲殖民主，不介入美國南北戰爭，維持其內戰性質。
Stephen Foster經常隨其家奴上奴隸的教堂，另首歌"Old Black Joe"
----Gone are the days when my heart was young and gay.
Gone are my friends from the cotton fields away.
Gone from the earth to a better land I know.
I hear those gentle voices calling "Old Black Joe ".
道出 :
黑奴塵世的解放----解除奴隸身分，恢復自由，無望。
黑奴塵世的解脫----身心折磨殆盡，死後昇天，在望。
